There are 45,000 cases of the 2012 Pinot Noir Block Nine (100% Pinot Noir), which was aged nine months in French oak. An authentic tasting Pinot, it is soft, round and spicy with lots of sweet cherry and plum-like fruit as well as medium body, good lushness, a plump, round, generous mouthfeel, impressive purity and notes of underbrush as well as oak. Drink it over the next 1-2 years.
The only three offerings from this excellent purveyor of value that did not make the cut in my tastings were the 2011 and 2012 Zinfandel and 2012 Pinot Noir Lot 5. Winemaker Larry Levin’s other well-crafted wines offer uncomplicated, delicious fruit.
